I've shared experiences with some of my patrons that own works by master painters who lived centuries ago. Namely, J.M.W. Turner, Jean-Baptiste-Camille Corot, Camille Pissarro, Claude Monet and Childe Hassam. These patrons acquired tonal and impressionistic paintings of mine throughout the years to place within their collection because of the similarities in style. Understanding I remain unique in creatively due to personality and lifestyle. Also, being female, my perspective and touch as I manipulate the oil and brush will always differ.
Comparisons remain heartfelt as the compliment is intended. And naturally, placement within their collection.

Red Poppies in Provence - o/c 20.5" x 24.5"
sold
I have created numerous poppies on canvas throughout the years based on my travels to the South of France. Even though poppies may grow almost anywhere, as in Tuscany and Greece, I draw inspiration from Provence because of it's pure light and vivid colors. Perhaps also because I've traversed some of the same areas where the impressionist painters of centuries ago lived, played and created. Whatever the reason, conscience or not . . . another beautiful painting is complete.

Sunflower Field in Provence - o/c 25" x 29"
sold
Completed painting early this week after working on her periodically the last few months. I needed the multiple layers to dry for the oil to protrude throughout.
The composition is based on travels to the South of France when the sunflowers are in bloom as well as the lavender. Often times, they appear placed in rows along the gentle slopes as seen off in the distance.

Permanent Collection
I have been asked by a number of patrons about the 2003 "Late Autumn" oil landscape that appears on the Round the Fountain website a few titles down from a web search on my career. It was acquired in 2003 and added onto the permanent collection in the County Courthouse of Lafayette.

An artist at work
Just returned from a few days in Galena. Brought my sketch pad and penciled some quick drawings from the nature trail along the Galena River leading to the "Mighty Mississippi" with notes of the colors effected by shadows in the margins. Snapped a number of digital photos as well.
Next week, finish a Sunflower Field painting I began early September. After that, tonal landscapes in various sizes. After all, it's autumn, and the perfect time to capture the beautiful shades of golden hues this time of year offers us.

Field of Iris - o/c 20.5" x 24.5"
sold
Have been working on the Field of Iris series these past two months. Completing my most recent painting above by building up multi layers of various blue and green hues in oil. This series is one of the reasons I'm known for my impressionistic style and compared to Van Gogh and Monet. I do favor the vivid colors in floral paintings that when applied with oil protrudes from the canvas and gives much depth to her viewed from all directions.

Works in Progress
I haven't meant intentionally to not blog this month. However, I've been so focused on creating floral arrangements and garden landscapes in my studio these past weeks, time slipped away from me. I'll showcase the originals on my website when they're complete.
